CG sketch

Caus I was listening to Breaking Benjamin - Diary of Jane, and felt like drawing this. Completely computer generated. And also because Annie is complaining that my sketches are crappy quality :P Will propably never finish it more than this. Sad sad my drawings all feel so life and soul less ... guess they're too stiff

Sketch dump

Thougth I'd update you a few sketches that were rotting in my sketchbook. And yes I'm too lazy to scan them so you only get ugly photobooth picture quality.

Logo Mashups

Well what a surprising find today on FFFFound! I stumbled upon a very mindbugging logo mashup and I followed the link to it's source. I think these are ingenious!

OMG! Seems owl city got signed or something ... anyways here is the video clip for his new song Fireflies! It's truely amazing! Can't wait for the new cd to ship! And yeah in case you're wondering, Owl city is all just one man's job!

(Well it would seem Universal doesn't want us to embed any videos ... for some weird reason, so you'll have to go watch it on their website. It's worth it though! )

Owl city!

Hey everyone!

Guess what? Good news! Owl city just released a new song called "Strawberry Avalanche". Along with the other new song "Hot Air Balloon" this was enough to get me inspired to finish the other drawing inspired by owl city I started last summer! With the help of the awsome painter and a few hours of Adam's music I managed to wrap another piece. This should put some color on my blog. It's been text and text for way too long! hahah Click it to make it big! You should also visit owl city's website to listen to the nice happy music!

Owl city is on tour all summer and fall! So if you're luckier than I am and have a chance to go to the states or ontario or british columbia when there is a show scheduled, please go and take pictures for me! CLICK HERE for the tour dates and also some more songs to listen to!

Be good!

Internship - day 19 & 20

How is the world doing today? It's my last day at paquin design. Sad. Every good thing has to end at some point. And I'll be back so all is good! Now, yesterday wasn't really an internship day since we were doing an outing with the school so all I'll say is the BNL MTL is really wicked cool and that I feel like doing shop droping in Quebec now. I like open culture. If you want to understand, or feel like going, visit:
Today was pretty unproductive. I finalized the guide project for printing but we're still waiting on a picture to be able to send it to the printer (the 35 copies in binders thing) so I won't be finishing that project.
I also wrorte descriptions for a website to post on online directories. It seems if you post the website in many directories with the same description, google will take it only once and all the hard work to get extra backlinking will be lost. Now try saying the same thing in 20 different ways. It's not that easy! It's quite a challenge.
And I did some cleaning in my folders for the others to be able to use my stuff without being too lost. Hopefully I'll be back to help them soon!
Well that's all folks! Internship report is on tuesday.
My time as a student is almost over.
If you ever need a graphic designer, call me (or rather drop me a mail), I'm a profesionnal now!
The next updates will hopefully be more graphicly interesting sutff than me babling about my life :D
See you soon!

Internship - day 18

Today was pretty eventfull. At first I was out of work so they gave me an ad to do for the same happy company I did a leaflet for. I pretty much had to adapt last years ad to another format and update the look a bit. The major problem was that the size was about 2/3 of the first one. Which means I had to stack the information and make the type as small I dared without it looking like we were trying to sell them soemthing they didn't sign up for.
Then we ahd to chase after a big enough picture to fit the huge panels. We had to reduce the size to 72 dpi. I'm afraid to know what it will look like in the end but we didn't really have a choice. Anyways, I finally sent them off for the client to show her approval comitee.
I also tweaked the Flash part of the animation and put it on my USB key so I can finish the animation when I'll ahve my computer back.
At noon we went out to eat a restaurant for my goodbye. That was very nice and quite unexpected. They also gave me a little gift, a very beautiful necklace. And at the end of the day they also talked to me about working for them after my internship as a freelancer. Particularly for the multilanguage proejct. I'm thrilled. It's not a full time job but I wasn't expecting one, they don't have enough job to hire another person full time. Anyways life looks good. If only my computer could be repaired soon.
Tomorrow we're going to montreal with the school. I'll be back to my internship friday and then it won't be an internship anymore!
Signing off!

Internship - day 17

Well today went realtively well up to a certain point. First, I got the Creole version of the docuemnt I'm doing in multiple languages. Wasn't expecting that one! It was a pretty interesting read. That is a tongue that you can understand when spoken but that doesn't look anything like french when written. I found it was the hardest to adapt up to now because when I stopped trying to read I could not mentally mark where I was at in the text. I got through it though and sent it off for revisions. I also finally got an ISBN code for the portugese versions but still not the final portugese text. We have 3 other languages it seems ... arabic, madarin and ... Romanian! That was a surprise! I hope I'll get to do it before I finish my internship! Tomorrow we're supposed to group call the translator to prepare for the arabic version that reads backwards. Should be interesting.
Today I strarted on a rush project, easy stuff not really any conception but it has to be done. It's some huge advertising fabric pannels ... and I'm finidng it very hard to find pictures that are 76 inches high ... even at 100 dpi. I've learned a new cheating technique to make your pictures bigger. Adding size little by little doesn't festroy the picture as much as if you're make a huge change. So we can gain up to 25% of the picture size. Not the best but it helps in cases like these!
I tweaked my animation also and I'm about done. The problem is I probably won't be able to finish it before my internship is over since my computer died and I was working on it. All my files are lsot for the time being. I'm kind of pissed. I don'T knwo what happened. All was going well today, I close my computer, go home, try to open it and I would get was the nice little opening noise and that'S it ... nothing but a black screen. Called apple care and it would seem to be my graphic card. Went to Zone to have it repaired, the dude plugged it on their monitor and nothing ... seems it might be the motherboard. That was sudden ... anyways I won'T have a computer for the next week or so ... if the piece comes in fast. Great thing that I have my expo comign up and that I have to prepare everything ... grrr. Luckily I had backed everything up ... except for that stupid animation, *sigh* anyways.
On a brighter note, go see our online portfolio, and most specifically mine :D
Signing off!

Internship - day 16

Oups It seems I missed my update yesterday! Sorry I forgot! You'll get 2 today!
So yesterday I worked on my animation all day long. Or almost. I took like 15 minutes to clean a text for someone and 5 to send the guide project off for aprobation this morning.
So today I'm expecting to work on it some more if I don't get the documents I need. I'm at the tweaking part now. Everything is in place but because of the 3d it's also all skewed. So I'm trying to fix that. We also tried it on the tv. A tv screen is a hundred times more bright than a computer screen. It just hurt our eyes so bad to see the red on tv. We decided that it would be better for the animation to play once evey 15 minutes or something. So I added like 14 minutes of black screen and manaed to make the transition between the black screen and the begining and the end and the black screen. If anyone know if we can program an animation to play evey 15 minutes on a dvd please do tell.Oh and did you know that when you import an .eps in AE the colors are different than when you import a .swf? That is annoying as hell .... Anyways!
Signing off! You'll get the update for today later hahahah after I actually live through it to tell :D

Internship - day 15

Another week has come and gone. I have only one left. I can't believe how fast time goes! Today I got to work on the animation a bit more. Working with a virual camera requires so much focus and space awareness! It's haaaaard! If I manage to do what I have in mind properly I'll be super proud! Sadly I didn't have time to finish it 'caus I got the stuff I was waiting on for the guide.
So I'm about done with that project, was about to send it out to the client today but I was waiting on a picture from my boss and she was in a meeting so it'll wait for monday.
I also about started to clean a text for a future work (probably not done by me) but they will recieve a newer corrected version soon too ... that seems to happen a lot haha. So Instead I only extracted the images from the word document ... see I told you that happened a lot!
Well that's all folks! Signing off for the week-end!
And btw, just went to see X-Men Origins: Wolverine ... and that movie is badass!! go see it!

Internship - day 14

Well today was very ... NOT busy haha. First I got a message telling me to stop doing the portugese version because they would soon recieve to corrected version. Ok ... gotta wait till monday for that. I also finally got the ISBN codes for the translated versions.
Then I finished doing the cover for the guide I'm doing. Found familly pictures. We recieved he binders in which the copies will be held ... yes that little production haha. And we figured we could not put anything on the side of the binder because they were too small so I have a bit less work to do! (Well ... it was already done but at least I won't have to do any prod on it!) And well I'm still waiting for the pictures and updated info to finish that guide so that's on hold too.
So at that point they ran out of things for me to do. haha so I ended up starting planning an animation of their logo that will be displayed on a tv they have in the conference "room". I put room in "" 'caus there are no real rooms it's all open space. Fun stuff. I'll get to experiment a bit more with the camera from After Effects. So I downloaded the trials of after effects CS4 and flash CS4 to work on my comp (since they didn't buy a full version for me and that'S the only project that will be requiring me to use them) only to realize AE cs4 doesn't work on a powerPC ... well so be it! tomorrow I shall bring my laptop and work on the school version. So instead I worked on the last part of my animation that only required Flash to do. Now I hope I'll have time to work on it tomorrow. Otherwise well ... I guess the Flash part could do for a logo animation. It's just quite short and boring on it's own.
Did any of you have a look at the CS4 version of Flash?? It looks so much like AE it's crazy ... (the layout mainly and the tweening ... I'm so lost!)
Oh well we'll see!

Internship - day 13

Today went great. Sent the invitation card off to the printer. Got to remember that the sheet we insert in it has to be shorter so it doesn't stick out.
I also did most of the job for the new project. The information was incomplete though so there will be many tweaks to do. I also don't have very good pictures so I'll probably have to extract them from a word document tomorrow. Lovely. I guess it will happen more often than I think. Clients just don't know better I guess!
Oh and I got a little surprise today! Got a portuguese version of the document I'm doing ... I might have 8 languages after all. Funny times! Oh well it's not very hard to do. The chinese and arabic versions will hold all the challenge!
Signing off!

Internship - day 12

Day 12! I finished the parking map for the invitation card and sent it for approval. After a few more corrections I got the final approval 5 minutes before 5. Tomorrow it's off to the printer! Glad I finished he production part while I waited for their approbation!
I also sent the spanish and english versions for corrections. I'm learning a bunch of stuff about ISBN codes with that project haha. I got a call from the printer that they had not recieved my french version ... but it ended up beeing just a misunderstanding of ftp accounts. That got sorted out too.
And finally I got started on a new project! I'm doing a page layout for some kind of guide for a town. Only 35 copies will be printed (compared to the many thousands of the multi-language project it's not much hahaha) and it has to follow some general feeling of the organization the guide is for. It shouldn't be too complicated but it will put my layout knowledge to test! I'm happy to start on a new project!

Internship - day 11

Hello all!
Third week started off great! My invitation card design was finally accepted! And they took the best variation of the 4 I had sent them. Things are looking good! But now I have to do the plan that goes with the invitation and also find a pantone color that fits the cmyk colors for the writing on the enveloppe. Charming. Details but I haven't gotten around to do them yet because I've been busy today with little things.
I finished the french version of the document I'm translating (well I'm not translating them but you get the picture by now). I had to prepare it for print and it got a bit tricky because the cover was done in illustrator and we had to redo it for inDesign because we weren't sure of the resolution of the picture inside the first cover... Well it sounds more complicated than it is but it was jsut a lot of little things added together that made it very long to do, and in 3 languages too. Now the french version is off to print. I'll be sending the spanish and english versions tomorrow for corrections! Now if I could only be done with the invitation card I'd be happy :D
Signing off!

Internship - day 10

Half way through! It's going by so fast!
What did I do today? finished doing the english and spanish version, now I'm working on my flags ... so long and painful!
And I also ... redid my invitation card. Yeah you read that right. It wasn't approved so I had to redo it. Luckly they like at least one of the elements that I used and they gave me more clues as to what they wanted so I hope this time will be the right one. I sent 4 variations of the same cover to make sure they like at least one. it's like playing mastermind. I'm really tired of working on the project. I don't so much mind that they didn't like the design, 'Caus to be frank I didn't like the second one much either. But I'm just sick of starting over. I'm running out of ideas to please them. Oh well, the directors were as desperate as me, and they told me not to take it personal. Even they don't know what to provide them with. They told me to sop trying to find a concept and just go for the cheesy classical stuff. Hope it works.
Signing off for the weekend, will try to get my mind off that project.

Internship - day 9

Well day 9! I finished the invitation card and sent it to the client for approval. Let's hope this one is accepted! The artistic director seemed to like it. So this was my second pitch ... let's hope this one works haha. This has to be printed for may 1st so hopefully it'll done by then!
We also sent the schedule leaflet to the printer. My first use of an FTP server. And I also did my second sending to a printer after the client got some last minutes corrections in. Well I guess if it's not printed you can still change it. This one project is going to be printed on press which means it's going to be my first "big" production! Can't wait to see the result! I'm sure on 3000 copies they can spare one for me.
Today I started working on the english and spanish versions of the document I talked about yesterday. It's not very long, but it's a pain to know where to cut lines or what rules apply or don't when it comes to spaces. At least I'm not in the arabic or chinese version yet. These will be a real challenge!
Signing off!

Internship - day 8

Well today went a bit better! I think I finaly got a concept for that invitation card, let's just hope it gets approved! I don't really like it but I don't think any of the things I'll do on that subject will be good so I'll go with the not so bad one haha. I much prefer the interior of the card which is entirely type and is quite classy. Oh well, i'll ask the artistic director tomorrow what he thinks of it.
I also learned today to always watch for unwanted meanings or associations. My collegue thought the building looked phalic. We had a good laugh and I added details to make sure it represented the building properly. It's always usefull to get another opinion on your work.
We got some more corrections on the schedule leaflet. They were sometimes contradictory with the first ones we got because it wasn't the same person in charge. I guess this is bound to happen too sometimes. Oh well, this was quickly done.
Tomorrow I'm supposed to get the last corrections on a project I took over last week. When it's done, I'll have to adapt the design for spanish, english, arabic and chinese. The last two worry me a bit ... they do read from right to left so I'll have to think of a way to switch the design around or something. Oh well ... we shall see.
Signing off!

Internship - day 7

Hey all!
Another day is over! I finished the corrections on the schedule leaflet today. Sometimes making grammar and spelling corrections for the clients are a must ... they just don't know better. Anyways.
I also got my first bad news ... the invitation card design was refused because it was too trash for them. They want something more clean and classic. We were expecting this, it still hurts a bit. And I was caught a bit off guard since they tell me they want it on another subject than what I had been working on. And a not so inspiring subject to top it all. Anyways I was told this happens all the time in the industry. Clients have something in mind but they don't tell you because they want to know what you come up with. The thing is they really want what they thought about and you end up having to start over. Oh well life is life. I spent the whole day trying to come up with some interesting design but I failed miserably. I'll try starting fresh tomorrow and in a new direction. I hope it goes better than today! Wish me luck!
Signing off.

Internship - day 6

Frist day of a new week! Started off on a new project. Well kind of new. I'm updating the look for the 2009 leaflet for the program of a summer camp. I've spent the day looking at picture of people smiling and having fun outdoors on a sunny day. I can't wait for summer! Some things I noticed: it's utterly important to do things logically and right the first time because when someone takes over your work to modify it, that person's gonna be in trouble if you didn't do it right. Paragraph styles are usefull and the table tool in InDesign is quite capable. At least I've learned that lesson from this work. I still managed to make all the changes quite quickly. It just would have been simpler the other way. Oh well there is a bit of everything in a job, I'm glad I stumble upon cases like this now. I'll have knowledge for the future! I also drew a picto today and it was funny. I also noticed that changing colors changes completely the feeling of a design. It makes the refreshing job easier.
I worked with diverse brushes and I had to extract two people from a picture. Was a good revision of how to do that, it had been a while. I'm also always surprised at how quickly brushes will lighten and make a design interesting. Easy but efficient way to do things. Anyways I'm really enjoying myself with that project!
On a lower note, I got some reviews on the website I did friday. There will be some changes needed to make it look more professional but I was expecting this. I don't have a very wide web experience and I'm sure I'll learn a bunch from this one. It'll have to wait a bit though because they have to rework the organization of the content.
Can't wait to be tomorrow already!
Signing off.

Internship - day 5

So here goes today's summary! It seems I was right to wonder what they would have me do 'caus they were wondering too haha. First I got my corrections revised by one of my co-workers and later they were sent back to the client. Hope they don't come up with too many new ones :P. We also got the confirmation that the ad I did on monday was approved, so one project is done!
I spent the major part of the day working on a web site for the new employees of an organisation. At first we thought it had to be orange ... so orange it was. But we eventually asked and they sent us a brochure to get inspired color wise. It looks way better now! Too much orange is hard for the eyes. I also "designed" a video interface. You know those little play, stop, fforward, volume buttons on videos? Well yeah that. That was a new experience. Very technical. Now I'm curious to see how it gets integrated. I'll have to follow that project with the programmer, I'm sure I'll learn a bunch! One thing I'm starting to notice is that clients are prone to changes. We had 3 documents that depicted the site's structure and the 3 were different. Oh well ... I did it one of the ways and they'll just ask for changes if it wasn'T the good one.
I was quite happy that my design got approved by the bosses :D Up to now they seem pretty pleased with my work. I also seem to be working faster than they can provide work. I spent a part of my afternoon getting my projects ready for the online portfolio for school because I was done with everything.
Today was very relax, for me at least. Still no news about the invitation card. Next week they are putting me on some corrections for another project.
Meanwhile, I'm signing off for the week end!
Oh and while I'm at it, they updated their website with the new projects, one of which is the one I took pictures of. Go have a look ;) it's the update from april 6th.

Internship - day 4

Well today went particularly well! I finished my invitation card design and I applied some typographic treatement I thought of last night while I couldn't sleep. Worked out really nice! I also wrote my first real persuasive pitch to promote my design. Hope it's enough to make it work! We sent the file today and are expecting an answer sometime soon. I might have to come up with a new concept, less trashy. I sure hope it will pass though 'caus it's not too trashy either .... meh I'll give you an update as soon as I have one.
I also got the corrections to do for the project I took over. One thing I learned today that I was pretty shocked about ... thin spaces are meaningless in the real world! Your best option is to look at the "office québécois de la langue française". I feel like I've been lied to all my life ... oh well ... no one is going to stop me from putting thin spaces in works I do for people that know nothing of such rules! MWAHAHAHAH ... yeah well meanwhile, if I work for the government I have to do it their way and it pains me ... thin spaces look so much better, especially in front of ":". I'm also starting to think CS3 is way better than CS2 .. I'm missing a bunch of usefull stuff. Oh well ...
I can'T wait to see what tomorrow will bring ... I'm pretty much on hold with all I had been given. We'll see, I'm sure they'll find something :D

Internship - day 3

Well here day 3 is gone too. Only 17 more to go. Sad that it's such a short time really.
Anyways today wasn't very eventfull. I spent the day working on that invitation card. And as I foresaw, inks didn't follow my command. By noon I was desperate to get something right and I went back to my comp to get some refferences, some tutorials and some inspiration. I ended up tracing a photo reference to get the character right. I'm glad I did because the result was more like what I was seeing in my head. Why make things more complicated when you don't have to? And it also turns out the only good way to use ink is by applying water on the paper first and the ink afterwards. Otherwise it looks too stiff. I'm sure I'm the one to blame for that and not the ink but whatever. Why I just love technology is that with photoshop I was able to put all my failled atempts together into one sucess. It seems I wasn't always messing up the same part. Now let's just hope the client is gonna like it. The others seemed to like it and I'm pretty proud too. I just have to rework some parts now that I know exactly how it has to be ... Means more ink for tomorrow!
Tomorrow I also expect to be able to start applying the changes to the project I took over.
I also haven't heard back from the ad I did on monday which is good news I guess! Means it went by the first wave of approbations.
As for atmosphere, I'm getting very comfortable there. I got acquainted with the scanner, very lovely ... I think I had to unplug it a total of 15 times to scan 6 papers. Scanners are forever stubborn but essential. The people on the other hand are very friendly and funny. I'm sure by the end of my internship I'll miss them!
Well that's about it for today, I'm making up for the long read of yesterday with a short post.

Internship - day 2

So! second day is over and what can I say? Things are looking good! My god I never thought one person could make such a difference! You have to understand the team is made up of 4 people (well five now that I'm there) three of which went to school together. So the atmosphere is really friendly and easy. The president and the artistic director work in the office two days a week each since they don't live in quebec. Yesterday was pretty calm and nice with only the president. Today was really energetic and talkative and happy with everyone there. Our artistic director is a ball of pure energy it's crazy. For those of you that where at the conference you got a glimpse at how he is. He lives true to that first impression! It's a really motivating work environement!
So this morning I finalized the research for the poject I have to modify a bit and now I have to wait for the clients precise requests before actually doing the changes. They were running out of things to make me do since everything was somewhat on hold but not for long 'caus I soon got more work on my plate, and I ain't complaining! I'm loving it! (hahahah those that catch the reference get a robot part :P )
I also did two batches of correction on the ad I did yesterday. I'm glad 'caus it looks better now that there is less info on it. More space for the visual!
We also set up the mini portative photo studio so I could take pictures of one of their creation for their online portfolio. I'll tell you if it gets put up soon :D Man their camera was heavy!! But it was nice and it ended up doing some neat perspective blur (not that I chose to do it, more like it happened hahahah that's what you get when you don't know the camera, happy fate :D)
And then comes the big juicy happy piece of my time there so far! I'm doing an invitation card and I get to do the whole concept and everything. I'm really excited! I spent the afternoon doing sketches and researching the topic and tomorrow I've got to bring my inks 'caus it'll be hand made illustration day! It'll be fun fun fun! I hope it turns out like I picutre it in my mind but it's rarely the case for ink work haha (maybe that's because I don't master it that well heh).
Anyways I'll keep you posted on what happens tomorrow! I don't think I can post examples up but I'll ask we never know. I'll probably be allowed once it's finished and printed.
I got my computer installed today, pretty huge screen! I'm not used to it but I can't complain for more space for tools and design at the same time! Got myself a skype accout too since that's how they keep in touch at work heh funny. And I discovered that CS3 is not always compatible with CS2 ... oh well. At least it didn't cause too many problems! Remind me of bringing my USB key, I keep borrowing everyone's haha.
Oh and for those that are concerned, I'll be going with all of you to montreal on may 7th!
Signing off :P

Internship - day 1

I've started my internship over at Paquin design today. I decided to make daily posts about it to keep an account of my experience and because I'm sure I'll forget things if I don't write them down!
Today went great! The team was very welcoming and easy going. No awkward moments or anything. I'm also very glad because they take me seriously. I did a touristic guide ad for one of their clients in the morning as my first ever real project (or almost first). It sure wasn't a lot of conception but I was very glad that I could put my technical knowledge to the test. Hope I passed! And let's keep it real, it's not always going to be total creative freedom ... actually I expect it to be so very rarely.
I choose some pictures for a magazine in the afternoon. My first real experience with stock images. I think there will be many firsts in the next few weeks. I also started reviewing a project that required some modifications. My first taking over a project done by someone else. I hope I'll be able to meet the client's expectations. This is what all the job is about after all. So for a little while I'll be switching type sizes and change pictures (my second real encounter with stock image ;) ) I find it helps me pay more attention to the impact of type size, choice and characteristics. I guess we never learn before experiancing it first hand!
I can't wait to see what tomorrow will bring!

Semester roundup - Madame B

Finally, we had to illustrate a story. I chose a kids book called "Madame B's sunday." It was colored with Painter and photoshop. This is of course for educational purposes and is a fictional project. The book does exist in french but we did not really work for it. It is "Le dimanche de madame B" by Benedicte Froissart.

Semester roundup - ESP

In order to graduate, we had to produce a work of 100 hours for a company we chose. It's called ESP for "épreuve synthèse de programme" that could be somewhat translated to "program's synthesis test". I chose the Periscope Theater. We had to go meet with the communications represenative and gather information and materials to do our project. I chose to do a publicity campaign. This being for education purposes we did a past season. I did the 07-08 programmation brochure, the website and an ad poster for a season subscription. Here is the result of those 100 hours (which are actually more like 85 hours). I did all the illustrations with ink.

Semester roundup - Online portfolio

Since this is our last year, we had to design the online portfolio for the graduates. Each one of us did a design. Sadly, mine wasn't picked to be the official one but I still like it.

Semester roundup - After Effects

This year we worked with a new software for video editing and creation. Adobe After Effects. We had to make short videos, find a two fold sentance and do something with it. It wasn't really a project, more like practice. My sister and I had this inside joke that doesn't really translate to english. it says "Boris Nikoff, ballet dancer, with him there never was any dust." It comes from the fact that Ballet and broom sound the same in french. The music is Vivaldi's Four seasons - Spring.

Semester roundup - Sports website

This is the first website we did this year. We had to chose an athlete or a team and make them a website. Of course all this is fictional and for learning purposes. I chose Jessica Dubé and Bryce Davison, a couple of figure skaters.

Semester roundup - Self-harm

This is an hybrid illustration project. We had to illustrate an article by using both photography and drawing. The article I chose was called "These teenagers that self-harm". After doing a research on the subject here is the result. Keep in mind it's all fictional and for learning purposes.

Semester roundup - Agriculture in mind

Well well well, my semester is pretty much over. For the next month I'll be doing an internship over at Paquin design. I can't wait to get started. Here is an overview of all the projects I did since january. These might be up on several posts to separate the topics.

Let's start off with a contest the whole group participated in called "L'agriculture en tête" or "Agriculture in mind". We had to choose a topic, make a research and produce an ad poster. Here is mine. We'll know the winners at the end of may.

If you don't know Owl City, you should. Music that makes people happy ^^ I feel like summer everytime I listen to it! Well go check it out. Then come back and you'll understand the inspiration behind this drawing. I doodled it this summer (or was it this winter .... can't remember) anyways I just finished it tonight. I used Painter! Man is that software the best ever for painting ? Well sure I would tweak a few things but that's probably jsut because I don't know it well enough and I'm too stuck with my photoshop habits. But duuuuude!!! The brush turns as you turn your ben, the colors blend beautifully and all alone, and that alone should make you want to run towards it with open arms! Painter never more will I say photoshop can do all you can do and more. *hugs* ... ok on to the drawing then!

Life update

Well hello people,

what is happening? Why is this place as good as dead lately? Well school of course! It is the source of all good and bad things hahaha. I feel projects are piling up and are starting to overwhelm me but at the same time I feel like I'm making progress with every second. A few months left before I'm out of school but this also means a few months left to make mistakes. I'm quite happy with pretty much all my projects right now. I might show some sneak peaks soon.

I'm working on my portfolio right now. I hate when printing messes up all your hard work. I have some interviews for internships. Speaking of which, if any of those reading this blog know of a design compagny in Quebec city or Montreal that are looking for interns for this spring, hit me up!

I'm trying to build my drawing portfolio at the same time to go to the IGDA's portfolio showing next wednesday at "Le Cercle". I have to put myself out there for my future career!

Well that's all folks, for now. BTW, you can look me up on twitter at (or follow the updates here on my blog on the right hand menu at the bottom)

Here is a drawing I want to try to color this weekend.
